Form of lawsuit that allows a group of people to bring an action against the same defendant for the same reasons before one court.


hydraulisk frakturering, hydrofraktur

Hydraulic fracturing (hydro-fracturing, hydrofracking, fracking)

a technique used to release petroleum, natural gas or other substances for extraction. Fluids, commonly made up of water and chemical additives, are injected at high pressure into oil or gas deposits to fracture the rock above and release the liquid or gas below.

Jargon Watch


Grexit/Brexit

Grexit refers to Greece’s exit from the EU due to the financial difficulties it has been going through. There was some talk of it in the first part of this year. At the moment though, it would seem  the political leaders have been able to avoid Grexit.
Brexit on the other hand, which has appeared in the second part of this year, refers to Britain’s exit from the EU, not so much due to economic difficulties but rather to unwillingness to remain.

Hysteresis

The term "financial backstop" is often used to describe the ESM that entered into force on the 8th of October 2012, but it can also have a more generic meaning, referring to other measures of financial assistance.

The European Public Prosecutor's Office would be responsible for investigating, prosecuting and bringing to justice those who damage assets managed by or on behalf of the EU.
It would also exercise the functions of prosecutor in the competent courts of the EU countries, in relation to such offences.

EN: Van Rompuy paper

DA: Van Rompuy-rapport

The so-called Van Rompuy paper refers to the document on the reinforcement of the Economic and Monetary Union  presented by Van Rompuy on 1st October 2012. The June European Council gave Van Rompuy and the three other presidents (Commission, European Central Bank and Eurogroup) a timetable to reinforce the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU): produce an interim report at the 18-19 October summit and a final one at the December summit. In draft guidelines for the conclusions of the October summit, dated 1 October, Van Rompuy gives member states “first indications” of what he plans to suggest in his interim report

"SSM – Single Supervisory Mechanism (Not to be confused with the Special Safeguard Mechanisms (SSM)
At the European Summit in June 2012, the heads of state and government concluded an agreement on the establishment of a single supervisory mechanism over banks and gave the European Central Bank and the Commission the task of drawing up the relevant legislative package.

A total of six thousand financial institutions
in the eurozone may be covered by the supervisory mechanism. This will be the
first step towards the creation of a banking union comprising the 17 countries
of the eurozone. At this early stage it is assumed that the supervisory
institution’s task will include issuing and withdrawing banking licences.
Countries outside the eurozone will also be able to join the planned mechanism,
in which case their banks will also come under ECB financial supervision. There
is a risk, therefore, that, as in the case with the fiscal pact, the
decision-making powers on matters relating to the supervisory mechanism will be
limited to members of the eurozone.

People still speak misleadingly of the “Arab spring”.  A more accurate term would be the “Arab seasons”. For the situation varies greatly from country to country. Some places have seen revolutions which have ushered in a new, healthy stability remarkably quickly.Tunisia is the prime example of this. In other countries, such as Morocco, change has come gradually, and in yet others we can only offer our assistance in the hope that democracy will take firmer root.  Egypt, a key regiona lplayer, falls into this last category. Kirsten og Torben holdt taler fra Dansk Folkepartis Landsmøde, både Pia Kjærsgaards afskedstale og Thuesen Dahls tale før han blev valgt til formand.

Jeg blev i sommer advaret mod at spise bær fra krat  i Østrig pga ræves orm og afføring, og i går dukkede ormen op i ENVI, da vi skulle diskutere selskabsdyrs rejsemuligheder:

SV - dvärgbandmask
EN - small fox tapeworm
DE - Fuchsbandwurm
LA - Echinococcus multilocularis

Mennesker smittes gennem kontakt med afføring fra smittede dyr f.eks. ræve og hunde, så det er vigtigt at have god hygiejne i særdeleshed, når man håndterer dyr. Ejere af jagthunde bør således være særligt opmærksomme på risikoen for smitte, ligesom tæt kontakt med byræve f.eks. via fodring menes at udgøre en risiko for mennesker.

Rovdyr herunder ræve, mårhunde og hunde bliver smittet ved at spise mus eller andre gnavere, hvor larvestadiet af bændelormen findes som cyster i leveren. De kan ligeledes bære på æg i pelsen, hvis de f.eks. har rullet sig i afføring fra smittede dyr.

Der Fuchsbandwurm wird durch den Verzehr von Waldbeeren, Pilzen oder Gemüse aus Freilandanbau auf den Menschen übertragen. Bei einer Infektion entwickeln sich in der Leber so genannte Hydatiden, welche invasiv ins Gewebe einwachsen und die Organfunktion beeinträchtigen. Unbehandelt führt dieser Krankheitszustand in mehr als 90% der Fälle zum Tod. Die Behandlung mit Wurmmitteln oder die operative Entfernung der Zysten ist daher unerlässlich.
