Jargon Watch
Grexit/Brexit
Grexit refers to Greece’s exit from the EU due to the financial difficulties it has been going through. There was some talk of it in the first part of this year. At the moment though, it would seem the political leaders have been able to avoid Grexit.
Brexit on the other hand, which has appeared in the second part of this year, refers to Britain’s exit from the EU, not so much due to economic difficulties but rather to unwillingness to remain.

From wikipedia: In economics, hysteresis refers to the possibility that periods of high unemployment tend to increase the rate of unemployment below which inflation begins to accelerate, commonly referred to as the natural rate of unemployment or non-accelerating inflation rate of unemployment (NAIRU). The term is based on the physical phenomenon of hysteresis in magnetic materials.
from today's Telegraph:
Economists call the loss of skills that accompanies such a prolonged slump ""hysteresis"" – or permanently higher unemployment as the lost generation forever fails to make it onto the jobs ladder.
